Annecy Winter Wonderland

Winter in the French Alps can be magical. The city of Annecy is is known locally as French Venice; I was there for a short city break in early December. The weather was cloudy, however after a fresh snowfall the scenery at night did not disappoint one bit. The picturesque medieval castle is perched in the middle of the river; with a thick snow cap it was an absolute highlight of the evening from all angles.

The narrow cobblestone streets had a special charm at night; the scene looked just as if it was taken right out of the Christmas postcard.

Next morning it was all very foggy and cloudy. The vast alpine Annecy lake is the major attraction of the area in the summer. It looked rather different shrouded in thick mist, however with snow still falling I managed to grab a minimalistic shot from the shores.
